Jean Rawitt (1).png

Jean Rawitt is a writer who’s been called “a wise and kind guide,” (Charles Mobb, PhD) and someone whose books “will capture the interest and passion of any young person wishing to make an impact.” (Shari Sirkin Kaplan, LCSW).

After serial careers as an executive in book publishing, marketing, public relations, and fundraising, she turned to volunteer training and program development, and – most recently – found a way to distill her interests and experience into practical and engaging books for young people. Listening to teens about the things that worry them, that excite them, and that they have questions about -- and capturing their hopes, their passions, and their concerns in books that help and inspire other young people -- has been the latest turn in a multifaceted career path, and the one that’s given Jean Rawitt the most gratification.

While working with teen volunteers in a hospital program she designed, Jean became intrigued by what these bright and engaging young people knew – or didn’t know – about a wide variety of issues that confronted them. Interviewing these teens – and many others – became the basis of her recent books, Volunteering, A Loved One with Dementia, and Friendship. Rawitt captures their voices and infuses her books with their lively interest, candor, and passions, along with the solid information and resources that can give readers the confidence they need. Her latest, Inspired to Action, to be published by Rowman & Littlefield on July 12th, 2023, opens the world of changemaking to a new generation of activists and advocates.
